School Achievements

We are very proud and pleased to have won several awards at our school. On this page you can ready about some of our successes.

Activemark 2008

Activemark 2008 rewards delivery of the national PE and Sport Strategy.

Schools receive the mark if at least 90% of pupils across the school were doing at least two hours high quality PE and school sport a week.

FA Charter Standard

This was awarded by the FA for our breadth and excellence of our football provision. We became an FA Club Links School in 2008 – this status is achieved by developing sustainable links with FA Charter Standard clubs and being able to offer more students the opportunity to participate in football within, as well as outside, the school day.

Healthy Schools

We gained National Healthy Schools Status in 2006 for our efforts in encouraging healthy living, healthy lunch boxes, PE and sport. We also participate in the free fruit for schools scheme for KS1 children, who are offered free fruit at mid morning break. This is an important recognition of all the good practice which takes place within our school.

Activemark 2006

This recognises the school's outstanding provision of PE, both within and outside of the curriculum.

This award is given to schools that show increasing participation in out of hours learning through sports.

School Travel Plan

We were successful in developing a School Travel Plan in March 2006. We aimed to:

• Set out measures to sustain and increase the number of children walking and cycling to school.
• Assist with a reduction in the number of car trips made to and from school.
• Promote healthier and more environmentally friendly forms of transport.
• Improve safety on the school journey.

Since then we have received two Achievement Awards (2007 and 2008) for successfully implementing the School Travel Plan and Achieving Targets.

Early Years and Extended Services

In 2008 we received recognition for demonstrating that we meet the Extended Schools' Full Core Offer by delivering the following to children and their families:

• Varied Menu of Activities
• Swift and Easy Referral
• Parenting Support
• Community Use
