We were pleased to welcome  Inua Ellams, as part of the Ledbury Poetry Festival.

Born in Nigeria in 1984, Inua Ellams is an internationally touring poet, playwright, performer, graphic artist and designer.  He is an ambassador for the Ministry of Stories and has published four books of poetry.  His first play ‘The 14th Tale’ was awarded a Fringe First at the Edinburgh International Theatre Festival and his fourth ‘Barber Shop Chronicles’ sold out its run at England’s National Theatre.  He lives and works in London.  He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.

He began the day with a whole school assembly sharing his life story and some humorous poems.  The rest of his day was spent with Class 3 and 4 where the children wrote their own poems. At the end of the day children came together to share their work. We were amazed by their imaginative poetry and were impressed by their enthusiasm and confidence.
