Forest School

Forest School is an idea which originated in Scandinavia in the 1950’s and has recently been introduced into Britain. It focuses on the need for children to spend time outdoors in a stimulating and natural environment as an important tool for learning and development.

At Much Marcle we are pleased to be able to offer all children the opportunity to visit a wood only a short walk from school once a week. Whilst in the woods children carry out a variety of different activities that help boost self confidence and help them to develop new skills.

Some of these tasks may include den building, games with an environmental theme, looking at seasonal changes in the wood, woodland art activities and using tools appropriately and safely.
